 Note of computer:


a. Define the term 'computer'?

= The term 'computer' is derived from the Latin word 'COMPUTARE', which means to calculate.

b. Define system unit?

c. Define data, hardware, and software?

= data is the collection of raw unprocessed facts, figures, and symbols.

= Hardware is the physical parts of a computer that can be touched or felt physically.

examples: Monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse, etc.

= Software is the set of programs that tells the hardware how to perform the tasks.

                                                    or

= software is the logical part of the computer system that cannot be touched.

= When a computer works on input that is called processing.

= IPO ( input, processing, output ) is the basic working principle of all computers.

= The devices which are used to give input to the computer are called input devices.

examples: Mouse, keyboard, scanner, webcam, joystick, etc.

= The devices which are used to process the data into meaningful information are called processing device. The processing is done by the CPU.

= The devices which are used to show the result of processing are called output devices.

examples: monitor, speaker, printer, etc.

=The characteristics of a computer are; High speed, versatility, communication, automatic, high storage capacity, diligence, accuracy, etc.

= computer is used in hospitals for different purposes like

a. to keep the records of patients, staff.

b. to take video x-ray, CT scan, and test of the heartbeat.

c. to find out the health problems.
